We're using this now in my Step Meeting. It's pretty wordy, but it has a lot to say, so I'm OK with that. Gives me a lot to chew on. I knocked a star off because it has quite a lot of unspoken assumptions about what experiences are common to women. Single women, childless women, gay women, and trans women will want to skip or skim some stretches.

Well written, thoughtful and very gentle and loving. As women, we take alot of 'stuff' (so to speak) from the world around us. We are told what to do, how to do it, smile, be pleasant, don't make waves, be 'good' (what does that even mean?). In AA this is particularly true, to the detriment of many women's recovery unfortunately.AA is often filled with middle-aged white men (ok, sorry if you are one!!), and so if you are female or black or gay or whatever, it can be a challenge. This lovely little book is very supportive of our differences as women and it really lifts us up and says, just because AA says this doesn't mean that is the only way to look at the issue. The august Big Book is just a template, it is not the tablets brought down by Moses. We are stronger as a group because of our differences, not in spite of them. Accepting different perspectives would be a good thing for AA, and maybe one day it will be more open-minded. I have meet many women who cannot stay sober because they try and follow AA as it is and they don't listen to their own instincts and "mother wit," so to speak. We women have wisdom, and we are all better served when we allow that to be part of the process. This book is a start.

This is a wonderful book to take women through the 12 steps in AA...or any addiction. I went to a women's meeting for years that used this as its step book and so much more was openly talked about than using just the AA 12 Step book.Unfortunately this is not "sanctioned" by AA, so a group has to agree to use it. It certainly is a wonderful addition for women who are in a 12 Step program.

One of the issues with the Alcoholics Anonymous Program for women is that the two founders and all the stories at that time were about men. When AA was founded, they did not let women into the rooms and did not consider them as needing the help. A man's club to be sure. Any suggestion that the Big Book (Alcoholics Anonymous) should be changed from those early years and stories was like saying the Bible should be changed. Women, therefore, had to relate to stories of men's perspectives. All the dialog in the books were written in the "he" perspective. Understandable for the 1930's and the founding fathers. This "radical" book allows women a voice in the rooms where they are often do not have a voice. It allows a woman's perspective to be heard and supports womens' reality as it relates to the recovery process. Highly Recommend!!! (written by female 27 years sober)

This is a wonderful book for women in recovery from any hurt, habit or hang-ups. I am working with another sponcee on this book. I have been through it in a meeting I use to go to. And I feel it's important just because women have a different make-up and different challenges that men don't have. This book and workbook together helps women to understand themselves better, and help their recovery go forward.

I have used the big book in the past and really like this set a lot better! It's more for today's times, easy to read, understand, and it's excellent for ladies in recovery. Whereas the big book can focus on the negative, this is a really positive resource. I read the main book that accompanies this, then work in the workbook. A really amazing, high quality and minimal book for any modern homes coffee table or book shelves. It's so hefty it's like an art piece. Aside from having such high quality prints, the book itself is just a show stopper in my opinion.

The outside of the book is beautiful! I was shocked when I opened the book. I was very disappointed. The first page that I opened to was a photo of a women showing her pubic hair shaved into the letter G. I thought no big deal, I will just rip the one page out. Let’s just say that wasn’t the only inappropriate photo. That is not fashion! Yes I am talking about the Tom Ford coffee table book. I wish someone had posted a review like this before I made my purchase. If I would have seen it, I never would have bought it.

Finally decided to buy this book after I bought all the other major fashion house coffee table books. It is certainly a staple to add your collection.

Love love this book! Looks amazing especially the outer hard cover which feels almost like fabric, so beautifully made.

Well...it took me long enough, this is a book I've been after for years, I love Coffee Table books and have about 50 and this was missing from my collection. If you love Art and Fashion then this is the book for you. It follows Super Sexy Tom Ford up through his rise at Gucci and what a rise it was. He put Gucci back on the Map where it belonged, this book captures a lot of his great work and what a story he has to tell, it's not just pictures but a great interview as well. At the end of the day for any collector this is a must have, make your friends eyes turn GREEN with Envy as they ooo and ahhh over this great piece of Art. I'm not going to sit here and tell you bit by bit about this book but what I will tell you is I'm about 1/3 of the way finished and I can wait until I finish...it's a good SOLID HEAVY WELL put together BOOK and I LOVE the fact that it has a slip cover to help keep the book safe I wish all high end books came with one...GREAT JOB TOM FORD!!! I can't wait until he makes a book about his solo career and spends his time on men's fashion.....RR

Ugh, THE book to have on your coffee table if you like fashion. Looks gorge in any photo shoot. As an interior designer, I think that EVERYONE needs a copy of this beautiful, heavy, inspirational book. BUY IT!!!

The price for this book is so much more reasonable than I thought it was going to be. It is also an amazon choice which made me feel confident in purchasing. The reviews were also really great and I can gladly say myself that this book is worth buying. the artwork inside is elegant and beautiful. The Tom Ford print on the outside is bold, yet modern which makes this the perfect coffee table book. Highly recommend this for anyone who is looking to add an accessory to your home or table.

This book is exactly how I pictured it. It looks luxurious and the photos are magnificent. I have wanted this book for over two years and I received it as a birthday gift and I'm loving it.
